Current Projects and Future Plans
At the moment, as well as providing access to collections by researchers, and preparing new collections, the Archives will be carrying out a number of special projects, including;
- Entry of all completed descriptive lists and completed fond level descriptions into our new ADLIB database
- Cataloguing of the Exham Flynn Solicitors Papers collection which contains documents relating to several landed estates, dating mainly from the 17th to the 19th centuries..
- Full descriptive listing of the J.H. Bennett and Co. (Ballinancurra) business collection, which consists of the records of the Malting Company and some records of the Bennett family.
- Professional conservation of the ‘Day Papers’/ Papers of Richard Dowden funded by Heritage Council of Ireland
- Professional conservation of the Bandon Estate Tenant Rental Ledgers; application made for funding by the Heritage Council of Ireland
- Digitisation project/ Online Exhibition ‘Cork : Merchant City’
- An Archives outreach project in 2008 for several locations in County Cork, involving talks to local history groups, advice on preserving archives, and exhibitions.
- An exhibition in 2008 relating to 17th Century Cork
- A major descriptive listing project on Local Government Archives
