Covid-19 Additional Rules and Conditions for Readers

  1. Researchers must submit their Reader Registration Application Form well in advance, by email to archivist@corkcity.ie.
  2. The capacity of the Research Room has been reduced, therefore Readers should apply for registration and appointments at least 1 to 3 weeks in advance.
  3. Readers must make an advance order for any archives that they wish to consult. The maximum number of items that may be ordered is 12 and comprising no more than 4 boxes. In the order, the reference numbers of requested items must be listed by the Reader. These numbers may be obtained from the online catalogue and descriptive lists.
  4. Records may be consulted between 10.30am and 12.30pm and 2.00pm to 4.00pm, by prior appointment only Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  5. A maximum of 2 two hour slots may be booked per Reader per week
  6. Appointments are for single Readers only - no couples or groups
  7. Material consulted is quarantined for 72 hours, this may effect research access to certain material temporarily.
  8. Readers, on arrival for appointments, will be requested to answer a COVID-19 declaration before being admitted to the Research Room. (This information will be retained for a period and then destroyed).
  9. Finding aids will be provided in electronic format only.
  10. Readers are required to bring and wear a face mask/covering
  11. Readers must keep at least 2 meters distance from other readers and staff.
  12. Readers must make frequent use of hand sanitizers/ wash their hands frequently while using our facilities. (Please ensure your hands are dry before handling archives).
  13. Readers will read all signs and information carefully
  14. Readers will bring their own pencil if they need one to take notes
  15. Readers will supply their own magnifying glass if one is required
  16. Gloves, sanitary wipes and tissues will be available for use by Readers
  17. Readers will follow the instructions of research room staff in terms of seating and movement arrangements, handling of archives, use of preservation aids, etc.
